Abstract: This research addresses the economic and operational asymmetry of modern drone warfare. It proposes a shift from explosive interception to Functional Neutralization using physics-based mechanisms to protect urban environments and civilian lives.

1. The Challenge

Traditional air defense systems are becoming economically unsustainable against cheap, autonomous loitering munitions. Over populated cities, kinetic explosions pose severe risks of falling shrapnel and unexploded ordnance (UXO).
